The tirzepatide price you pay depends on your country, your dose and where you buy. Mounjaro costs very different amounts across Europe, and the UK price more than doubled at most doses in 2025.

This guide compares the tirzepatide price across Europe, with UK prices by dose before and after the 2025 rise, country-by-country costs, yearly estimates, how it compares with semaglutide, France’s new reimbursement and safe ways to save.

Why prices differ

The tirzepatide price differs because Eli Lilly sets list prices separately for each country. Health systems, pharmacy margins, consultation fees and VAT all add to the final cost.

Exchange rates also change the picture. A price that looks lower in euros or Swiss francs may look different once converted to pounds.

Key point

Most “from” prices quote the 2.5mg starting dose. Budget for the dose you are likely to stay on, which for many people is 5mg to 10mg.

Tirzepatide price: 9 proven facts

1. The UK price rose sharply in 2025

Eli Lilly raised its UK list price by up to 170% from September 2025.

2. Higher doses cost more

The tirzepatide price climbs as you move up the dose schedule.

3. UK private prices vary widely

Mounjaro ranges from about £130 a month at 2.5mg to £340 at 15mg.

4. Ireland is similar at lower doses

Irish prices run from about €150 to €330 or more.

5. Germany and Austria are self-pay

Weight loss medicines are not covered by statutory insurance in either country.

6. Switzerland uses fixed pen prices

Public prices start at about CHF 224 per pen.

7. Spain is expensive at higher doses

Prices reach around €446 a month at the top doses.

8. France now reimburses eligible patients

From 15 June 2026, Mounjaro became reimbursable for some patients with obesity.

9. There is no generic yet

Tirzepatide remains under patent, so prices stay tied to branded Mounjaro.

UK prices by dose

The UK tirzepatide price changed dramatically in 2025. Following Eli Lilly’s UK price rise of up to 170% (Euronews), list prices more than doubled at most doses.

Some pharmacies price below list, especially for repeat customers. Our Mounjaro cost UK guide tracks current prices, and our cheapest way to buy Mounjaro UK guide shows where to look.

Ireland prices

The Irish tirzepatide price runs from about €150–€200 at 2.5mg to €270–€330 or more at 15mg. Mounjaro is not reimbursed by the HSE for weight loss.

A first year typically costs about €2,900 for medication, or about €3,150 with consultation fees. See our Mounjaro cost Ireland guide for dose-by-dose prices.

Germany and Austria

In Germany, the tirzepatide price for weight loss is paid privately, at roughly €206 to €520 a month depending on dose. Statutory health insurance excludes weight loss medicines.

Austria is similar, at about €250 to €400 or more. See our German guides to Mounjaro Preis Deutschland, Mounjaro Kosten pro Monat and Mounjaro Preis Österreich.

Switzerland prices

Switzerland sets public prices per pen. The 2.5mg and 5mg pens cost about CHF 223.80, and the 7.5mg and 10mg pens about CHF 303.25, with higher strengths costing more.

Basic insurance does not routinely cover Mounjaro for obesity. See our Mounjaro Preis Schweiz guide for details.

Spain and France

In Spain, the tirzepatide price for weight loss is private, at about €208 to €446 a month. Our Spanish guide to Mounjaro precio España covers local pharmacy prices.

France took a different path, reimbursing Mounjaro and Wegovy for eligible patients from 15 June 2026. Before that, patients paid around €300 a month.

The yearly cost

Looking at a full year gives a more realistic tirzepatide price than a single month. Estimated first-year medication costs vary widely between countries.

CountryEstimated first-year cost
IrelandAbout €2,900 (about €3,150 with consultations)
SwitzerlandAbout CHF 3,480
SpainAbout €4,070
UKRoughly £2,500–£3,500, depending on maintenance dose

The UK range assumes a step-up to 7.5mg–10mg maintenance at typical private prices. Reaching 15mg would push costs higher.

Tirzepatide vs semaglutide prices

Before September 2025, Mounjaro was often cheaper than Wegovy in the UK. After the price rise, the tirzepatide price is usually higher than semaglutide at comparable stages.

Tirzepatide generally produces more weight loss, though, so the better value depends on your results. Compare our semaglutide price and Wegovy vs Mounjaro guides.

Price and your dose

Because the tirzepatide price rises with each strength, the dose you stay on has the biggest effect on cost. Many people get good results on 5mg to 10mg.

Staying on a lower dose that works can save hundreds of pounds a year. Our tirzepatide dosage chart explains results by dose.

Ways to save

  • Compare several regulated pharmacies, including all fees
  • Ask about repeat-customer or multi-pen discounts
  • Stay on the lowest dose that keeps working
  • Check if you qualify for NHS or public access
  • Use payment plans to spread costs rather than buying cheap unregulated products

See our Mounjaro discount UK and Mounjaro payment plans guides for current offers.

Buying abroad

A lower tirzepatide price abroad can be tempting, but it comes with practical issues. Prescriptions may not transfer, pens need cold storage and you will need monitoring at home.

Our guide to the cheapest country to buy Mounjaro covers the costs, rules and risks in detail.

Cost per week

Breaking the tirzepatide price into weekly amounts can make it easier to budget. Each pen holds four weekly doses, so a monthly price divided by four gives a rough weekly cost.

DoseApprox. UK cost per week
2.5mg£33–£44
5mg£38–£55
7.5mg£45–£65
10mg£53–£73
12.5mg£60–£79
15mg£68–£85

Seen this way, many people on 5mg to 10mg pay roughly the same each week as a few takeaway coffees and lunches, which helps put the tirzepatide price in context.

NHS vs private costs

NICE has recommended tirzepatide for some adults with obesity, and the NHS is rolling it out gradually, starting with those at highest risk. Eligible NHS patients pay only the standard prescription charge in England, or nothing elsewhere in the UK.

Most people currently pay the private tirzepatide price because NHS access is limited and waiting times are long. Private treatment can usually start within days.

What the price includes

The tirzepatide price quoted by two pharmacies may not cover the same things. Some include consultations, needles, cold-chain delivery and ongoing support; others charge extra.

  • Online or in-person consultation
  • Pen needles and a sharps bin
  • Insulated delivery
  • Dose reviews and side effect support
  • Subscription or membership fees

Subscriptions and payment plans

Many UK pharmacies offer monthly subscriptions or buy-now-pay-later options such as Klarna and Clearpay. These don’t lower the tirzepatide price, but they can spread the cost.

Read the terms carefully and make sure you can keep up repayments. Our Mounjaro payment plans guide compares the main options.

Is paying more worth it?

A higher tirzepatide price sometimes reflects better support, faster delivery and clinical follow-up, which can make treatment safer and easier to stick with. Those extras have real value.

Very cheap offers, on the other hand, are often a red flag. Licensed Mounjaro from a regulated pharmacy is always worth more than an unknown product at a bargain price.

Switching to save money

Since the 2025 price rise, some people have switched from Mounjaro to Wegovy to lower their monthly costs. Others stay on a lower tirzepatide dose rather than moving up.

Any switch should be planned with your prescriber, who can choose a safe starting dose and check the cheaper option still meets your goals. Saving money only helps if treatment keeps working.

In 2024, tirzepatide was in high demand and some doses were hard to find. In September 2025, Eli Lilly raised UK list prices sharply, and pharmacies responded with a wide range of offers.

By 2026, supply was stable, France had started reimbursing Mounjaro and competition between UK pharmacies had increased. The tirzepatide price now varies more between providers than ever.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • Does the price include consultation, needles and delivery?
  • How will the price change as my dose increases?
  • Is the pharmacy registered with the GPhC?
  • What support is available for side effects?
  • Can I pause or cancel without penalty?

Clear answers make it easier to compare the real tirzepatide price between providers.

How Europe compares with the US

Europe is still far cheaper than the US. There, the list price of Zepbound or Mounjaro is around $1,100 a month, although Lilly sells some vials directly to US patients for about $299 to $699.

These US direct prices are only available to US patients, so they don’t change the tirzepatide price for UK or European buyers. They do show how much prices differ between markets.

Insurance and employer schemes

Most UK private health insurance policies do not cover weight loss medicines, but some employer wellbeing schemes may contribute. Policies vary, so check the details.

It is worth asking before assuming you must pay the full tirzepatide price yourself.

When to review your costs

Review your costs whenever your dose changes, when your pharmacy updates its prices or every few months as a routine. A small difference per pen adds up over a year.

If the tirzepatide price at your pharmacy rises, compare a few regulated alternatives before switching. Make sure any move doesn’t interrupt your dose schedule, as missed doses can mean restarting at a lower strength.

Our tirzepatide UK guide explains safe access if you are new to treatment.

Planning for price changes

Prices can change with little notice, as the 2025 rise showed. Keeping a small buffer in your budget and ordering your next pen before it runs out protects you from sudden jumps.

Some pharmacies honour the old tirzepatide price for existing customers for a while after a change, so it is worth asking. Signing up for price alerts from regulated providers can also help.

Key takeaways

  • The tirzepatide price varies by country, dose and pharmacy
  • UK Mounjaro costs about £130–£340 a month after the September 2025 price rise
  • Ireland is similar at lower doses; Germany, Austria and Spain are self-pay and often higher
  • France now reimburses eligible patients; most countries do not
  • There is no generic tirzepatide, and research products are not licensed

When comparing tirzepatide price offers, look at the yearly cost, what is included and whether the seller is regulated.

Research tirzepatide and cheap offers

Some websites advertise research tirzepatide or “tirzepatide peptides” at a fraction of the Mounjaro price. These are not licensed medicines in the UK, and their dose, purity and safety are not guaranteed.

Buy safely

Only buy tirzepatide as licensed Mounjaro from a regulated pharmacy with a prescription. Be wary of prices far below the normal tirzepatide price range, unbranded vials or sellers on social media.

Our research peptides UK legal guide explains the legal position, and our tirzepatide UK guide covers safe access.

Generics and future prices

Tirzepatide is still protected by patents, and generic versions are not expected for many years. For now, the tirzepatide price will stay linked to Lilly’s branded Mounjaro.

Competition from new medicines, reimbursement decisions and pharmacy discounts may still shift prices over time.

Budgeting for long-term treatment

Tirzepatide is usually a long-term treatment, and stopping often leads to weight regain. Plan your budget for the maintenance dose over at least a year.

Check what each price includes, review your dose regularly and look at the value of support, not just the monthly figure.

The best tirzepatide price is the one you can sustain safely, from a licensed source, at a dose that keeps working.
